What is this Himalayan beauty?
This beautiful Blood Pheasant was photographed by guide Richard Webster in Bhutan. It represents well the spectacular beauty found among the world's more than three dozen species of pheasants.
Many pheasants are partial to montane habitats, and amidst the incredible mountain scenery of Bhutan we have regular chances to see four beauties to match the landscape: Himalayan Monal, Satyr Tragopan (certainly one of the world's great birds, and with a great name!), Kalij Pheasant, and the Blood Pheasant shown here.
Our upcoming Bhutan tour, which runs April 8-27, 2017, with Richard Webster as guide has just one space available. You can read all about this tour on our BHUTAN page.
Don't forget also to view Richard's 2016 illustrated triplist or 2015 illustrated triplist for a great taste of the tour.
