Bird Buzz

Where do you find the most specialty birds in S.E. Asia?

Vietnam is home to one of the richest but most poorly known avifaunas of any Southeast Asian country, with a number of endemic, near-endemic, and highly threatened species found here. In fact, no other mainland Southeast Asian country can boast as many such specialties, with several unique forms being recently elevated to full species status by ornithologists and taxonomists.

Guide Dave Stejskal, who took this image of a Fork-tailed Sunbird on our fall 2016 tour, is returning Nov 3-23, 2017, for another look at this fascinating country. If you've birded elsewhere in S.E. Asia, such as Thailand, Vietnam serves as a perfect complement. Or if this is your first time to the region, Vietnam's rich bird life combined with the karst landscapes and rich culture and history will make for a great first experience.

You can read all about it on our VIETNAM tour page. Don't forget also to view our 2016 illustrated triplist for a taste of last year's tour. It's full of interesting annotations as well as great images and video clips.
