_Extra US tours added: LA,
TX, new
SC!
|
There's
been lots of interest in two of our stateside tours for
the fall and winter, so we've added a departure each for
Louisiana:
Yellow Rails & Crawfish Tails and South
Texas Rarities (our originally scheduled
departures are tentatively full). Louisiana II will be Nov
8-12 with Dan Lane, and South Texas Rarities II is
scheduled for Jan 25-31, 2013, with Chris
Benesh.Guide Jesse Fagan has also devised a great new Birding Plus combo -- Do the Charleston! -- which hits lovely Charleston for a combo of historic South Carolina plus great migration and mountain birding (with a touch of Georgia, too), It'll be a great way to spend Apr 27 to May 4, 2013!

_Guide news & schedules
|
As
ABA members have heard, longtime Field Guide George
Armistead recently accepted a position with the
American Birding Association as their Events
Coordinator. We've had a great run with the "Owl"
over the past 10 years, and we're really going to miss
having him in the field with us. But we wish him all the
best in his new role--congrats, man! As we write this,
he's prepping to join Megan Crewe to co-lead Alaska II,
with his last scheduled tour, Galapagos, in August. It's
evolution in action all around!
With
George's changes we've made a few schedule adjustments
looking forward. Dave
Stejskal will be leading our Nov 2012 Southern
Argentina tour following his already-slated Northwestern
Argentina trip (both are full), as well as our new
Oct 2013 Barrow:
Search for Ross's Gull trip (lots of interest
already).
Jesse
Fagan will take over our Morocco
tour for Sep 2013. (And did you see Jesse noted
in a recent Audubon magazine article
promoting birding in El Salvador?) He'll also be
returning to Oz to co-lead Australia
(Part II) with John Coons Oct 9-24 -- the
"Motmot" won't find any of his namesakes there, but
wouldn't a Buff-breasted Paradise-Kingfisher be a nice
substitute? Oh, yeah!| |

_Thinking ahead: December
holiday tours
|
OK,
it's true...we're all thinking about summer! But if a
birding getaway over Christmas or New Year's is on your
wish list for later this year, it's a good idea to plan
early for our popular end-of-year holiday escapes. Our
great office folks can help you with any of the
following (and how about that holiday "gift" at right?):Costa Rica: Rancho Naturalista I: Dec 19-27 with Jesse Fagan
Trinidad & Tobago: Dec 27- Jan 5 with Megan Crewe
Holiday at San Isidro, Ecuador: Dec 27- Jan 5 with Mitch Lysinger

_Some ones, twos, and
threes...
|
Kenya
Highlights: Currently with just two spots open for
a small group of 6, this promises to be an amazing
experience of some of the richest birding and wildlife
viewing on Earth in two and a half weeks, July 4-22.
At the helm? The guide who wrote the book, Terry
Stevenson! And check out Kenya Safari Spectacular, Aug
31-Sep 28 with Terry if July isn't open for you.
Machu Picchu & Abra Malaga I:
We have two departures: the second one is tentatively
full and guide Jesse Fagan's got just one space still
open on the first, scheduled for Jul 13-22.
Spectacular ruins, some fantastic birds, and Andean
landscapes!
Arizona's
Second Spring I & II: Haven't been to AZ in
the "monsoon" season? You've been missing out on one of
birding's great secrets -- everything's "greened
up" from the rains and the birds put on a chorus of song
and burst of breeding activity! John Coons has one space
for his trip, Jul 28-Aug 6, and Megan Crewe has
just three for hers, Aug 4-13.
New
Guinea & Australia: Need a recommendation for
a tour? How about a little bit of Oz with a dose of
Paradise...birds-of-paradise, that is! We've got one
space on this pairing for a rich taste of each...a
perfect combo whether you think you'll visit Australasia
just once or might return again and again. Phil Gregory
will show you the many highlights Oct 4-22.| |
