_Summer "vacaciones" ahead,
amigos!

Last month we
featured summer tours to the north from Alaska
to Spitsbergen.
This month we're looking in the opposite
direction...south toward the Bird Continent in
search of birding gold! After all, Peru, Brazil,
Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia comprise 5 of the top 6
countries in the world for bird diversity. Clearly,
many of you have already made summer vacation plans,
since 8 of our summer South America tours are fully
booked. But there are still great escapes to be had on

_Extra tour: Cape May
II this fall with Megan

With
just
one space remaining on our first fall departure, we've
added a Cape
May Megan's Way II tour, so you too can join Megan
Crewe for some fantastic birding at this famous fall
migration hotspot. Dates for the added trip are Oct
7-13. We're dreaming of a big pulse of migrating
raptors, fall landbirds, shorebirds, and whatever
rarities Cape May might be hosting at the time -- all in
Megan's home patch!|

Hmmm...the
header
above makes us think of a new tour concept:
letter-birding! We'll pair Alaska and Australia in one
itinerary, Madagascar and Morocco in another, Papua New
Guinea and Peru, Tanzania and Thailand... OK, our heads
are spinning, too, and we are definitely wondering about
the various flight times and airfares, so never mind
that idea!
However, even if we don't combine a
Bornean Bristlehead (as in participant Dave Harvey's pic
above) with a Bolivian Warbling-Finch (as in guide Dan
Lane's at right) on one tour, we are heading to each of
these great destinations in the next few months. Dave
Stejskal's off to Borneo
II June 6-23 (2 spaces open), while Dan
Lane and Pepe Rojas are co-leading our annual Bolivia's
Avian
Riches extravaganza, Sep 7-22. Either
one's a great way to check one more letter off your
birding alphabet! (And for a little fun, check out Dan's
participation with the LSU team in the upcoming Birding
Rally
Challenge 2013 in Peru in June.)
