As we write this, guides Dan Lane and Jesse Fagan are on a week-long adventure to Peru. Together with Peruvian colleague Fernando Angulo, they are Team Field Guides in the World Birding Rally! They're scouring the rainforests of southeastern Peru for a week, then will wrap up their run at famed Machu Picchu. These guys are aiming for first place, of course, but also hoping to raise some funds for a conservation project supporting the Marvelous Spatuletail. Check out all the details on our news page post. Follow the team's progress on our news page or Facebook page, and if you're up for it, support them with a pledge!

We've posted a review of our tours to Northern Central America by guide Jesse Fagan -- from Guatemala and Honduras to Belize -- to give you a sense of how these three great destinations fit together and the highlights of each. And did you know that Jesse is hard at work on a new field guide to the region? Guide Peter Burke is doing some of the illustrations, and the post includes his lovely trio of Rufous-naped Wrens. |

Jesse reports: "Many birders ask me what their first Neotropical birding destination should be. My suggestion? I think Honduras makes an ideal starting point: 738 species of birds, 23 regional endemics, and 1 country endemic (the very local Honduran Emerald). And it offers birding in spectacular natural areas!" Jesse has just posted about it in an informative piece on our news page -- check it out. His next Honduras: Land of the Emeralds tour is just around the corner (Feb 22-Mar 2).
