January 2012 E-mailing
Happy New Year! Our thanks to all of you who joined us in making 2011 another great year of birding travel at Field Guides (our 27th!), and here's wishing you more great birding travels in 2012! This month we have several tour updates, exciting new slideshows from Arabia and Northern Peru, open spaces on upcoming tours, and our January recent photos gallery (samples to guess at left from Brazil, Guatemala, Argentina, Madagascar, and Peru) -- our cheat sheet is below. Enjoy!

_Tour Updates
Terry McEneaneyTwo spots have just opened up on guide Terry McEneaney's Best of the Pacific Northwest trip, Feb 4-8. Here's your short winter birding escape to this lovely area on our tour starting out of Seattle.

The Lodge at Pico BonitoIf you're considering our Honduras: Land of the Emeralds tour, Mar 3-11 with guide Jesse Fagan, you can extend your stay at the end of the tour with a deal from the lovely Lodge at Pico Bonito: a bonus two nights for the price of one! Contact our office for details.

Northern Hawk OwlWe've moved our Southeast Ontario: Winter Birds tour to Feb 21-25, 2012 since winter has been so late in coming. There is currently 1 space still open with Peter Burke and we will make a final decision on whether or not to run the tour on or before Jan 23.

JaguarWith guide Marcelo Padua's original tour full, we've added a second departure of Jaguar Spotting: Pantanal & Garden of the Amazon for Jul 7-18. See our web page for all the details. Oh, and lest you think this is just a mammal-watching tour, check out some of Marcelo's great pics from our September recent photos gallery for just a few of the fabulous birds to be seen, or have a look at his 2011 triplist of more than 300 species. Birding ahead!

_New Slideshows (Oman/UAE, N. Peru)
We have two great new slideshows: George Armistead assembled his pics from his recent Oman & the UAE tour into a captioned slideshow, as did Rose Ann Rowlett from photos she and co-leader Richard Webster brought back from their recent Northern Peru: Endemics Galore trip. Both are a great way to pass a few minutes among beautiful birds and landscapes and to learn more about these two exciting birding destinations. The links are:
