Born and raised in Calgary, Dan Arndt graduated from the University of Calgary's Natural Sciences program in 2006. Working a desk job for a few years after graduating led him to develop a passion for photography and for birds. After learning that he could get paid to watch birds, he jumped at the chance and began his career in environmental consulting in 2013. He then began guiding locally in 2015 and farther abroad the following year.
Dan has been a co-leader for the Field Guides Owlberta: Alberta's Owls & More tour since 2019 and the Canadian Rockies: Alberta tour since 2022, and he has also guided privately throughout central and western Canada. When he’s not guiding or consulting as a wildlife biologist, he spends his time skiing, biking, and taking care of his two cats and two crested geckos at home in Calgary, Alberta.
