Birding Cruises Overview & Highlights

In the Galapagos, cruising allows us to reach more remote shores and islands not reached by day-trippers, maximizing our chances of seeing endemics such as Galapagos Penguin, Waved Albatross, and some species of Darwin's Finches.

In Antarctica, ship-based birding is the only way to encounter iconic species such as Emperor and Adelie Penguins, Snow Petrel, and South Polar Skua, while cruising takes us to breathtaking ice landscapes and isolated colonies far beyond land-based visitor limits. Two itineraries offer exciting alternatives: one, the classic full Antarctica route; the other to the Wedell Sea for Emperor Penguin.

Around remote Spitsbergen (Svalbard) in the Norwegian Arctic, cruises allow close approach to colonies of Dovekies and other nesting seabirds, as well as maximize our chances for encounters with Ivory Gull, Polar Bear, and Walrus.

In the Brazilian Amazon, river cruises penetrate otherwise inaccessible rainforest, bringing birders up remote tributaries to a mosaic of habitats where we can explore in search of numerous seldom-seen species of birds as well as mammals, in particular primates.

On all these cruises, the mobility and comfort of shipboard lodging, our top birding guides, and access to the wildest and most biodiverse regions provide birders with extraordinary experiences and close-up wildlife encounters not possible by land alone.
