Jorge Montejo-Diaz was born in Yucatan, Mexico, and developed a passion for nature from a young age while exploring the surroundings of his hometown, Merida. His interest in birds grew during his college years in Veracruz, when he and a group of friends "discovered" the great migration, now known as the Veracruz River of Raptors. Since the late 90's, Jorge has guided birding tours throughout Mexico, focusing on the tropics of Southern Mexico, but his explorations have taken him far afield to places like Madagascar, South Africa, and much of the US, Canada, and Latin America.
Jorge always has a smile on his face and is thrilled to be able to share his passion for birding with others. On rare occasions when he is not in the field, Jorge and his partner, Amy, review eBird records and describe new butterflies from their base in Xalapa, Veracruz.
